Just Landed: how LTE.app gets you online in seconds

The moment you land, LTE.app detects your arrival automatically using your phone's network signal β€” no GPS, no typing. Here's exactly how the Just Landed flow works and what each plan gets.

What is Just Landed?

Just Landed is LTE.app's arrival flow. The moment your phone registers on a new country's mobile network β€” even before you have data β€” the app detects the change and gets everything ready. A notification appears: *"You're in Japan β€” tap to connect."* One tap. Ninety seconds. You're online.

No hunting through settings. No digging for a QR code at the baggage carousel.

How the detection works

Every mobile network broadcasts a country code called an MCC (Mobile Country Code). When your phone connects to a new carrier, this MCC changes. LTE.app reads that change in real time and knows exactly which country you're in β€” without GPS, without you typing anything, and without needing an internet connection to figure it out.

This works even if you put your phone in airplane mode during the flight. The moment you lift airplane mode on the ground, the MCC check fires.

The one-tap flow

Once Just Landed detects your arrival:

  1. You get a push notification or see a button on your Dashboard
  2. Tap once β€” LTE.app shows your active eSIMs for this destination
  3. If you have a matching plan, tap to activate
  4. You're connected

If you don't have an eSIM for this country, Just Landed opens a plan browser filtered to your destination. Buy, install over airport Wi-Fi, and you're done in under two minutes.

Register your flight in advance

Any user β€” Free, Pro, or Premium β€” can register an upcoming flight. Go to Account β†’ Flights β†’ Add Flight, enter your flight number and arrival airport.

This unlocks: - Pre-departure push reminders β€” "Your Tokyo flight is in 24 hours. Is your eSIM installed?" - Pre-arrival country warnings for destinations where you must install before landing - Faster Just Landed β€” the app pre-caches your arrival context so the flow is instant on the ground

Countries where you must install before landing

Some countries restrict or block eSIM provider systems from within their borders. If you land without an already-installed eSIM, you may not be able to activate one at all.

CountrySituation
ChinaGreat Firewall blocks App Store, Play Store, and eSIM APIs
IndiaRegulatory requirement β€” activation must happen before entry
UAECarrier registration only available before arrival
TurkeyApp store / carrier activation unavailable after entry
OmanCarrier activation only before arrival
Russia, BelarusPlay Store and eSIM APIs restricted
Cuba, Iran, North Korea, MyanmarSeverely restricted or no public internet

When you register a flight to any of these destinations, LTE.app shows a warning banner on the confirmation screen. The fix is simple: install your eSIM at home, on Wi-Fi, before you travel. Once installed, it sits dormant until you activate it on the ground.

What each tier gets

Free - Automatic MCC arrival detection - One-tap flow to activate an existing eSIM - Browse and buy destination plans if you don't have one

Pro - Everything in Free - Data usage alerts at 75% and 90% so you can top up before running out - Expiry reminders at 7, 3, and 1 day before your plan expires

Premium - Everything in Pro - Rescue eSIM provisioned automatically when you register a flight β€” a global backup eSIM installed on your device before you leave home - Automatic failover if your primary eSIM runs out while you're still abroad

The rescue eSIM β€” Premium's safety net

When a Premium user registers a flight, LTE.app places a rescue eSIM on their device in the background. It's a global backup that costs nothing extra and sits dormant until needed.

If your primary plan runs out abroad, LTE.app checks your phone's live mobile network signal. If it confirms you're still in the destination country, it activates the rescue eSIM automatically and sends you a push: *"Your backup eSIM is activating now."*

No QR code hunting. No manual action. Just continued connectivity.
