eSIM for AI Wearables & Edge Devices

Always-on cloud connectivity for AI pins, smart glasses, and voice-assistant wearables β€” independent of a phone.

By LTE.app Editorial Β· Updated June 2026

Who this is for

Hardware engineers and app developers building AI pins, smart glasses, voice-assistant earbuds, and other wearable edge devices that need independent cellular data for cloud AI inference.

What makes this audience different

  • Standalone cellular β€” no phone hotspot dependency
  • Low-power eUICC chipsets compatible with wearable form factors
  • Automatic provisioning before the device ships β€” zero user setup
  • Small data plans (1–10 GB/month) sized for AI inference API calls
  • Global coverage for wearables sold in international markets

What LTE.app offers ai wearables & edge devices

Factory provisioning via Agent API

Provision an eSIM profile for each device before it ships. The user never touches a SIM tray or scans a QR code β€” the device connects on first power-on.

Usage-triggered top-up

A data.low webhook fires when the device's plan drops below 20%. Your device management platform tops up automatically β€” the user never sees a "no connection" screen.

Small-data plan options

Plans as small as 1 GB/month for devices that only make AI inference API calls, with larger tiers for wearables that stream audio or video.

Global coverage for consumer wearables

One integration covers 196 countries. Your device works in the US, Japan, EU, and everywhere else without separate carrier agreements per market.

Recommended plan

Duration
30 days
Data
2–10 GB

An AI pin making constant cloud-inference calls uses approximately 500 MB–2 GB/month. Smart glasses streaming audio transcription use 3–8 GB. Start with a 5 GB plan and adjust based on actual usage.

How small are the eSIM modules compatible with LTE.app?
LTE.app is a software layer β€” we issue eSIM profiles that work with any GSMA-compliant eUICC chipset. The physical module choice (MFF2 solder-down, 4FF nano-eSIM, iSIM on-chip) is up to your hardware team. Our API does not impose chipset constraints.
Can the device provision its own eSIM without a companion app?
Yes β€” if the device's firmware implements the GSMA SGP.02 LPA protocol (or LPA-Lite for constrained devices), it can download the eSIM profile directly from LTE.app's SM-DP+ server using the activation code returned by the Agent API. No companion phone app needed.
What happens when a user travels internationally with the wearable?
The wearable's management platform detects the new country, provisions a new country plan via the Agent API, and pushes the profile. The user's wearable switches carriers without any action from the user.
How do I handle users who want to manage their own eSIM plan?
Use the standard LTE.app checkout flow for user-managed plans. The Agent API is for plans managed by your device platform on the user's behalf. Both rails can coexist: device-managed for background data, user-managed for optional top-ups from the companion app.

Automate provisioning via the Agent API

The LTE.app Agent API lets your software or device provision eSIM connectivity programmatically β€” no human checkout, no physical SIM swap. 196 countries, usage webhooks, Ed25519-signed events, per-key spend caps.
