Step-by-step fixes

1
Use manual entry instead of the camera
Every eSIM QR code has a text fallback: an SM-DP+ address and activation code. iOS: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Enter Details Manually. Android: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR or enter manually. Request the text codes from LTE.app if you only received an image.
2
Improve scanning conditions
Print the QR code or display it on a second device at 100% brightness. Hold your phone 20–30 cm away. Reduce screen reflections and ensure good ambient lighting. Avoid scanning from a crumpled printout.
3
Check the QR has not already been used
eSIM QR codes are single-use. If you scanned it previously and the installation appeared to fail, the code may already be consumed. Check your eSIM list in Settings — the plan may actually be installed. If not, contact LTE.app support.
4
Check for country or carrier restrictions
A small number of plans have country-of-purchase restrictions. If you bought a plan marketed for a specific region from outside that region, the QR may fail. LTE.app plans are globally purchasable — this is more common with other providers.
5
Try on a different Wi-Fi network
Some corporate or hotel Wi-Fi networks block the GSMA eSIM provisioning protocol. Switch to a mobile hotspot or home broadband connection and try again.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SM-DP+ address and where do I find it?
The SM-DP+ address is the text equivalent of your eSIM QR code. It looks like a web address (e.g., smdp.example.com). LTE.app includes this in your plan confirmation email — look below the QR code image for "Manual Entry" or "Text Code."
My phone says "Invalid QR Code." What does that mean?
"Invalid QR Code" means either the code is not an eSIM profile QR, it has already been used, or it has expired. Try the manual entry method. If that also fails, contact LTE.app support for a replacement.
I am trying to scan the QR but my camera app opens instead of the eSIM installer. How do I fix this?
You must scan from within your cellular settings, not the camera app. iOS: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → scan. Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. Do not use the main camera or a QR scanning app.
