LTE.app Smart Coach — automatic diagnosis
Smart Coach checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — no data needed. Open the app and tap Smart Coach to fix most issues in under 60 seconds.
Step-by-step fixes
1
Enable the eSIM in Network Settings
Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → tap your eSIM → enable it. Pixel sometimes adds eSIM profiles as disabled by default after a QR scan.
2
Enable Data Roaming on the eSIM line
Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → your eSIM → Roaming: On. Without this, the Pixel connects to international carriers but blocks data traffic.
3
Set the eSIM as the preferred SIM for mobile data
Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Preferred SIM → Data: select your eSIM. Pixel routes data through whichever SIM is selected here — change it to your eSIM when abroad.
4
Check Access Point Names
Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → your eSIM → Advanced → Access Point Names. Verify the APN listed matches your carrier's required APN from LTE.app. Add a new APN entry if missing.
5
Try carrier network reset
Settings → System → Reset Options → Reset Mobile Network Settings. This clears all APN and carrier configurations and forces a fresh network registration.
6
Use Smart Coach for automatic diagnosis
Open LTE.app and tap Smart Coach. It checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — even without mobile data — and walks you through the exact fix for your device and carrier.
Frequently asked questions
Which Pixel phones support eSIM?
Google Pixel 3 and later all support eSIM. Pixel 3 through 5 support one eSIM; Pixel 6 and later support dual eSIM (two eSIMs simultaneously with no physical SIM needed on Pixel 7a and 8 series).
My Pixel says "No SIM" even though eSIM is installed. What do I do?
Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs. If your eSIM profile appears there but shows as disabled, tap it and enable it. If it does not appear at all, the QR scan may not have completed — try scanning again.
Pixel eSIM data stopped working mid-trip. What could cause this?
Most common causes: plan expired, data roaming was toggled off by an OS update, or the carrier changed APN requirements. Check plan status in LTE.app, verify data roaming is still on, and use Smart Coach to check APN.
