Step-by-step fixes

Switch carriers manually
iOS: Settings → Cellular → Network Selection → disable Automatic → select a different carrier from the list. Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Network operators. Try each carrier and check signal bars.

Check if you are in a coverage black spot
Some areas genuinely have poor coverage from all carriers — rural areas, mountains, underground spaces, and some buildings. Move to an outdoor location or near a window and retry.

Toggle between 5G and 4G/LTE
iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Voice & Data → select LTE (instead of 5G Auto). Sometimes 5G coverage is sparse and LTE delivers better real-world speeds. Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Network Mode → select LTE/4G.

Travel eSIMs use roaming agreements with local carriers. The roaming carrier may have weaker indoor coverage or fewer towers than the primary carrier locals use. Manually selecting a different carrier often improves signal.
