Using eSIM as a Second Phone Number
An eSIM gives you a second phone number on the same device. Useful for separating work and personal, or for a local number while traveling without losing your home number.

Step-by-step fixes
1
Install your eSIM plan from LTE.app
Scan the QR code from your welcome email. Your travel eSIM installs as a second line alongside your physical SIM. Both lines work simultaneously.
2
Label your lines clearly (iPhone)
Settings → Cellular → tap each line → Label. Name them "Personal" and "Travel" or "Work" and "Home" so you always know which line you are using.
3
Set default line for calls, SMS, and data
iOS: Settings → Cellular → Default Voice Line — select which number makes outgoing calls. Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data — select which line uses mobile data. Android: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager — set defaults for calls, texts, and data separately.
4
Use travel eSIM for data, keep home SIM for calls
The most common setup for travelers: keep your home SIM for calls and texts (to preserve your number), set the travel eSIM as the data line. Enable data roaming on the eSIM only.
5
Enable iMessage and FaceTime on both lines (iPhone)
Settings → Messages → Send & Receive → add both numbers. Settings → FaceTime → You can be reached at → enable both numbers. This lets you receive messages on both numbers.

Will my home number still receive calls when I use a travel eSIM?
Yes. Dual SIM keeps both lines active. Your home number receives calls and texts normally while the eSIM handles your data connection.
Can I get a local phone number with LTE.app?
LTE.app data plans do not include a local voice number by default. They provide data connectivity. For a local phone number, look for eSIM providers that specifically offer local number plans.
