How to Check Your eSIM Data Usage
Running out of data mid-trip is avoidable. Here's how to monitor eSIM data usage on any device and how LTE.app shows you remaining data in real time.
Check data usage in LTE.app
The LTE.app dashboard shows real-time remaining data for all active plans. Open the app → Dashboard → your active plan shows GB used and GB remaining. LTE.app sends push notifications at 80% and 95% usage to give you time to top up.
💡
Enable notifications in LTE.app settings to receive data alerts before you run out.
Check data usage on iPhone
- 1Settings → Cellular → tap your eSIM line.
- 2Scroll down to see "Current Period" data usage — this shows total data used since the last reset.
- 3Note: iPhone's cellular data counter resets monthly or when you reset it manually. It does not reflect your plan's remaining data accurately.
- 4For accurate plan remaining data, always check LTE.app rather than the iPhone counter.
Check data usage on Android
- 1Settings → Network & Internet → Data Usage → select your eSIM line.
- 2The graph shows usage over time. Set a data warning and limit to get alerts.
- 3On Samsung: Settings → Connections → Data Usage → select eSIM.
- 4Again: Android's data counter is approximate. LTE.app's dashboard is the authoritative source for plan remaining data.
How to make your data last longer
- 1Download Google Maps offline before trips — saves 500 MB–1 GB per destination.
- 2Set Spotify and Netflix to download over Wi-Fi only.
- 3Disable background app refresh for social media apps.
- 4Use low-data mode in iOS: Settings → Cellular → eSIM line → Low Data Mode.
- 5Video calls: set Zoom/Teams to 480p instead of 1080p — cuts usage by 70%.
Having trouble? Smart Coach diagnoses automatically.
Open LTE.app and tap Smart Coach. It checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — even without mobile data.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know when my eSIM data is almost gone?
Enable notifications in LTE.app. The app sends alerts when you reach 80% and 95% of your allowance. You can also check remaining data anytime in the LTE.app dashboard.
What happens when I run out of eSIM data?
Data stops immediately. Your eSIM stays connected to the carrier (calls and SMS may still work on voice plans) but internet stops. Purchase a top-up in LTE.app to restore data — no new QR needed.
