eSIM Connected but No Data?

Your eSIM shows a carrier name and signal bars, but you have no internet. This is almost always one of three things: data roaming off, wrong data line selected, or APN misconfiguration.

Step-by-step fixes

1
Enable data roaming on the eSIM line
Settings → Cellular → tap your eSIM line → Data Roaming: On. This single setting causes 60%+ of "connected but no data" issues. International eSIMs always require data roaming enabled, even within the country the plan is for.
2
Set the eSIM as your active data line
Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → select your eSIM. If your home SIM is still set as the data line, your eSIM will show signal but route no data.
3
Check and set APN manually
APN (Access Point Name) settings tell your phone how to connect to the carrier's data network. In LTE.app, tap your plan → "APN Settings" to see the correct values. iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Network → APN field. Android: Settings → Network → SIM → Access Point Names.
4
Reset network settings
This clears all saved APNs and Wi-Fi passwords and forces a fresh configuration. iOS: Settings → General → Reset → Reset Network Settings. Android: Settings → General Management → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
5
Use Smart Coach for automatic diagnosis
Open LTE.app and tap Smart Coach. It checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — even without mobile data — and walks you through the exact fix for your device and carrier.

Frequently asked questions

My eSIM shows 4G/LTE signal but apps say "No Internet." Why?
Signal bars show carrier registration, not data access. You need data roaming enabled AND the correct APN settings. Check both. Smart Coach can verify and correct your APN automatically.
What APN should I use?
APN settings vary by carrier. Find the correct APN in your LTE.app plan details, or open Smart Coach — it identifies the carrier your eSIM is using and applies the correct APN for you.
