Step-by-step fixes

1
Confirm your device supports eSIM
Go to Settings → General → About (iOS) or Settings → Connections → SIM Manager (Android). If there is no eSIM or Digital SIM option, your device does not support eSIM hardware. Not all phones do — especially budget Android models.
2
Check if your phone is carrier-locked
A carrier-locked phone can only use SIMs from one carrier. eSIMs from other providers will be rejected. Go to Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock (iOS) — if it says "No SIM restrictions," your phone is unlocked. On Android, contact your carrier to confirm unlock status.
3
Confirm IMEI2 shows in device info
On iPhone, go to Settings → General → About and scroll down. If you see two IMEI numbers (IMEI and IMEI2), your phone has eSIM capability. Only one IMEI means no eSIM hardware.
4
Check for country-locked restrictions
Some iPhones sold in mainland China do not have eSIM. US-bought iPhone 14 and later are eSIM-only. Japanese models may have eSIM restricted to specific carriers. Check your specific model and country of purchase.
5
Use Smart Coach for automatic diagnosis
Open LTE.app and tap Smart Coach. It checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — even without mobile data — and walks you through the exact fix for your device and carrier.

Frequently asked questions

My phone is listed as eSIM-compatible but it still will not install. Why?
Carrier lock is the most common cause. Your device hardware supports eSIM but the carrier lock prevents using third-party eSIMs. Contact your carrier to request an unlock — typically free if your contract is fulfilled.
Can I add eSIM to a non-eSIM phone?
No. eSIM requires dedicated hardware built into your phone. External eSIM adapters exist but are not recommended — they can be unreliable and may violate your device's terms of service.
