eSIM Stopped Working After a Software Update?
Both iOS and Android updates are known to reset eSIM-related settings — particularly data roaming. This is the most common cause of eSIM failure after an update.

LTE.app Smart Coach — automatic diagnosis
Smart Coach checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — no data needed. Open the app and tap Smart Coach to fix most issues in under 60 seconds.
Step-by-step fixes
1
Re-enable data roaming on your eSIM line
OS updates frequently reset data roaming per-line. This is the #1 cause of post-update eSIM failure. iOS: Settings → Cellular → tap eSIM line → Data Roaming on. Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → tap eSIM → Data Roaming on.
2
Verify your eSIM is still set as the active data SIM
Updates can reset the preferred data SIM to your home physical SIM. iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data. Android: Settings → Network → SIM Manager → Data SIM. Reselect your eSIM.
3
Restart your device after the update
If you installed the update and jumped straight to using data, a restart helps the modem firmware fully initialize. Hold power → restart → wait 2 full minutes before testing.
4
Reset network settings if issues persist
Some updates corrupt stored APN or network credentials. A network settings reset (not a factory reset) clears these cleanly. iOS: Settings → General → Reset → Reset Network Settings. Android: Settings → System → Reset → Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth.

Why do phone updates break eSIM settings?
OS updates migrate user settings between versions, but per-SIM preferences like data roaming are stored differently across OS versions and sometimes fail to migrate correctly. This is a known issue on both iOS and Android across major version updates.
My eSIM profile disappeared after an update. What do I do?
Rarely, eSIM profiles are removed during updates. If your eSIM line no longer appears in Settings → Cellular, contact your provider for a new QR code. LTE.app can reissue QR codes for any active plan.
