Step-by-step fixes

1
Enable data roaming on the eSIM line
This is the cause in over 60% of cases. Being connected to a carrier (showing signal bars and carrier name) does not mean data is allowed to flow. Data roaming must be explicitly enabled. iOS: Settings → Cellular → tap eSIM → Data Roaming: On. Android: Settings → Network → SIMs → tap eSIM → Data Roaming: On.
2
Set the eSIM as your active data line
If you have a physical SIM inserted alongside your eSIM, your phone may be sending data through the physical SIM even when the eSIM is "connected." iOS: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → select your eSIM. Android: SIM Manager → Data SIM → select eSIM.
3
Check APN configuration
Carrier connection can establish without a valid APN, but data will not pass. Check your APN settings on the eSIM line. Smart Coach reads your APN automatically and compares against the correct values for your plan.
4
Toggle airplane mode
Enable airplane mode for 15 seconds, disable, wait 60 seconds. This resets the data session without losing the carrier registration.
5
Check plan status and remaining data
Confirm your plan is active and has data remaining in the LTE.app dashboard. Expired or exhausted plans maintain carrier connection but block all data.
6
Use Smart Coach for automatic diagnosis
Open LTE.app and tap Smart Coach. It checks your APN settings, roaming state, and carrier connection automatically — even without mobile data — and walks you through the exact fix for your device and carrier.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my eSIM show a carrier name but have no internet?
A carrier name in the status bar means your phone is registered to the network (voice/SMS layer). Data requires a separate APN configuration and data roaming permission. All three — carrier registration, APN, and data roaming — must be correct for internet to work.
My eSIM worked before. Why has it stopped passing data?
Most likely cause: the plan has expired or run out of data. Second most likely: an OS update reset your data roaming setting. Check both in order.
